The IEA Clean Coal Centre has been running the Mercury Emissions from Coal (MEC) experts meeting annually since 2003 and in this time it has been held in Europe (Scotland, Poland and Slovenia), North America (Toronto), Asia (Tokyo) and Australia (Newcastle, NSW) and South Africa (Kruger Gate). In 2012, the meeting will be moving for the first time to Russia, to the fabulously historic city of St Petersburg.

The MEC workshop series was established to facilitate the interaction of international experts representing the utilities, governmental bodies, research institutes and commercial industries, allowing discussion of how they can work together to address the problem of mercury emissions from coal combustion. The 2012 meeting  is expected to draw around 80 delegates from over 17 countries.

We are looking to invite sponsors and exhibitors to help keep the costs of the meeting low and to facilitate the networking gala dinner. Please get in touch as soon as possible if you are interested in putting up a booth or sponsoring part of the meeting.

Details on the hotel, visa applications and the agenda will be posted early in 2012. Watch this space!
